Chapter 8. Dial Backup Configuration
8-4 IQ Probe User Manual 61200214L1-20
Auto DBU
The A
UTOMATIC
DBU option specifies whether the unit automatically en-
ters dial backup mode or waits for manual setup. The factory default set-
ting is D
ISABLE
.
DBU Options
Answer Always
If this feature is enabled, the unit will answer a call. If disabled, it will not
answer a call. However, the A
NSWER
A
LWAYS
option must work in con-
junction with the A
UTO
DBU and O
RIGINATE
/A
NSWER
options. The A
UTO
DBU option is the controlling option and if it is disabled, the unit will not
answer the call regardless of how A
NSWER
A
LWAYS
is set, except for the
DTE DBU which will answer the call regardless of the A
UTO
DBU setting.
The O
RIGINATE
/A
NSWER
feature only appears when the unit is pro-
grammed for a nonframe-relay circuit (signaling none). If both A
NSWER
A
LWAYS
and A
UTO
DBU are enabled, the unit will answer the call even if
it is set to O
RIGINATE
.
Beeper Option (BEEP OPTION)
If enabled, the IQ Probe issues an intermittent beep while in dial backup.
Password Opt
When enabled, the passwords entered in the DBU P
ASSWORD
fields of
both the near and far end IQ devices are required to match before a dial
backup connection can be made. The setting in this field must also be iden-
tical in both units (i.e., they both must be set to either E
NABLED
or D
IS
-
ABLED
).
In this chapter, the terminal selections are listed first followed by
the Front Panel selections in parentheses (if the names differ).
